Exhibition of Images

The exhibition ‘In A Different Light’ runs at Aberglasney Gardens, Llangathen, Carmarthenshire until March 25th, 2009 (see www.Aberglasney.org). We are very grateful to the director, Graham Rankin, for generously allowing us to mount this exhibition. It features small images of all 190 moths found at Aberglasney during 9 visits in 2006, together with framed images of 24 moths, and 15 larger, framed Moth-Art images (together with small photographs of the moths from which each was created).

There are information sheets to guide visitors through the exhibition as well as a continuous loop, edited version of the DVD-ROM running in the exhibition room.

We have been very encouraged by visitor responses to a questionnaire at the exhibition and would be delighted to re-stage it elsewhere in the future. If you are interested, or think you know of a suitable venue, do please contact us. The number, species subject and size of images could be changed as required.

Moth-Art Images

These images which have been created for the In A Different Light DVD-ROM have each been produced from a single moth photograph. The exhibition currently displays 15 of these images in 3 different sizes from approximately 14” (136cm) square up to nearly 36” x 24” (91.5cm x 61cm). The frames are dowel jointed, waxed ash with separate internal wooden fixing fillets (see photo below).

All Moth-Art images can be produced and framed in this way to order - they are not available unframed, and, if required, the source image can also be produced to accompany the Moth-Art image (as in the exhibition). Each image will only ever be produced in a limited edition of 5 large, 8 medium and 13 small sizes. They will be signed and numbered using a sequence of Fibonacci numbers. (These numbers, which are a common numerical pattern in many biological structures, are formed by adding the previous 2 numbers together thus 1,1,2,3,5,8, etc). A database will be used to keep a record of which numbers have been used for which images.
